Amanda began her safety career within a family-owned construction business, where she managed occupational health and safety for JBMS in 2000, following an extensive career in Human Resource Management commencing in 1990.
She was subsequently appointed as National Safety Training Officer for Transnet Capital Projects, and later as a SHEQ Practitioner. During this period, her team established the first Occupational Health Department at the Transnet Centre of Excellence, making a significant contribution to the organisation’s SHEQ framework.
As a Senior Consultant and Facilitator, Amanda has delivered Risk Management and SHEQ-related training programmes across multiple sectors. Her client portfolio includes Discovery, Investec, PRASA, Transnet, SAPS, SANParks, as well as numerous construction and engineering organisations.
For the past few years, Amanda has lectured at the University of Pretoria, supporting Construction Management students in the development of safety plans and the compilation of compliant safety files.

Bonita Visser

Bonita has 26 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, and training delivery, with extensive exposure to large-scale, high-risk construction and infrastructure projects both locally and internationally.
She has served as Safety and HR Manager on numerous national MBA award-winning projects, including Chapman’s Peak, Vodaworld Extension, Killarney Mall, Klipspruit Opencast, Lonmin UG2 (Rustenburg), as well as major refurbishment projects such as Marula Sun and Emerald Casino.
Bonita has conducted incident investigations for Sun International and has been involved in several high-profile infrastructure developments, including Medupi Power Station, Butterworth Technikon, a 1 km bridge across the Zambezi in Zambia, and projects in Nampula, Nacala, and Pemba (Mozambique). Additional experience includes the Sand Bypass Project in East London and the installation of domestic turnstiles at OR Tambo International Airport.
In her role as Senior Consultant and Facilitator, Bonita delivers a wide range of Risk Management, Construction Safety, and SHEQ-related training programmes, drawing on her strong practical background and industry insight. She also manages the Krugersdorp satellite branch, ensuring consistent service delivery and training excellence within the region.

Alex Rumney
Director of Operations – SHEQMAX (Pty) Ltd®
OBJECTIVES
To ensure consistent delivery of high-quality Occupational Health and Safety services through effective operational management, client engagement, and compliance oversight. Alex’s objective is to strengthen sustainable safety cultures within client organisations while positioning SHEQMAX as a trusted, integrated, and “one-stop” SHEQ service provider offering comprehensive compliance, training, and operational support.

EXPERIENCE
Alex has over 16 years’ experience in operational safety management, compliance implementation, and SHEQ service delivery across multiple industries. His background includes hands-on and strategic roles within landscaping, warehousing, tyre franchises, telecommunications, fibre infrastructure, and office-based environments.
As Director of Operations, Alex is responsible for overseeing SHEQMAX’s operational delivery, ensuring that safety systems, audits, training programmes, and client engagements are executed efficiently, consistently, and in line with legislative requirements. He plays a key role in managing client relationships, resource allocation, and quality assurance across projects.
Alex has been instrumental in achieving safety compliance approvals with major telecommunications clients, including Nokia and Vodacom, specifically within the fibre installation and maintenance sector. His work ensured contractor compliance, safe work practices, and alignment with client-specific safety standards.
